The short version
- The Lampworth app sends nothing to us or to anyone else. It has no account, no analytics and no advertising.
- Your family's rules stay on the device.
- This website uses no cookies.
Who we are
Lampworth is made by Erhan Ilhan, an individual developer in the United Kingdom, who is the data controller for the little information described on this page. You can write to privacy@lampworth.com.
The app
What stays on the device
Everything Lampworth needs is stored on the device it runs on, and is never sent to us:
- the apps and websites you chose. Apple gives Lampworth only anonymous tokens for them: the app cannot read their names;
- the times and days you set, and whether a pause or extra time is on;
- your parent PIN, kept in a scrambled form that cannot be turned back into the PIN;
- your child's first name and the picture you picked for them, if you gave one;
- a short history of changes ("History"), which you can clear.
Deleting the app removes all of it.
What Lampworth cannot see
Messages, photos, contacts, what is typed or watched, the websites visited, and where the device is. Lampworth sets times for apps; it does not look inside them.
Apple's part
The pausing is done by Apple's Screen Time on the device. If the device is signed in with your child's own Apple Account, Apple asks a parent to approve Lampworth; that step is between you and Apple, under Apple's privacy policy. If you have agreed to share figures with app developers in your device's settings, Apple may show us combined, anonymous numbers such as how many times the app was installed or crashed.
Children
Lampworth is set up by a parent or guardian, on their own family's devices. We collect no information about children, or about anyone else who uses the app. A child can always open Lampworth and see the rules: there is no hidden mode.
This website
No cookies
This site sets no cookies and stores nothing on your device. There is no advertising and nothing that follows you to other sites.
Counting visits
We count how often pages are visited with Cloudflare Web Analytics. It uses no cookies, builds no profile and does not tell us who you are; we see totals, such as how many people opened the plans page this week.
Delivering the pages
The site is delivered by Cloudflare. Like every web host, it has to handle your device's internet address to send you a page, and keeps technical records for a short time to keep the service safe.
The two questions
If you answer the questions about Pro and Max, we store your two answers, whether you came from the app or from the website, and the time. We do not store your name or an email address.
So that one person is counted once, your internet address and your browser's name are turned into a short code that changes every day. The address itself is not stored. If you answer again on the same day, your new answer replaces the earlier one. When the day is over, the code can no longer be linked to an address, by us or by anyone, so we cannot tell who sent which answer or find a single answer again afterwards. The answers are kept with Supabase, in London.
If you write to us
We keep your message and your email address to answer you, and delete them within twelve months of our last reply, or sooner if you ask.
Your rights
Under United Kingdom data protection law you can ask what information we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, and object to how we use it. Write to privacy@lampworth.com. If you are not happy with our answer, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint.
When this changes
Lampworth Pro, which is being built, will let a parent manage a child's device from their own phone. That needs a server. Before Pro can be used, this page will say exactly what that server holds, and for how long. We will always change this page before the app changes, not after.
